Two online casinos can offer a slot with the same name, artwork, reels, music, wild symbols, and bonus round – and still provide slightly different mathematical conditions. The reason may be hiding inside the game’s information menu.

The company linked this approach to operating across numerous jurisdictions and making games easier for operators to launch in different markets.

This example is useful because it confirms that multiple RTP variants of the same game can be deliberate supplier products rather than an error.

However, RTP ranges vary between developers. You should not assume every provider offers those exact percentages.

Why Would an Operator Choose a Lower RTP?

The simple mathematical answer is house edge.

A 96% RTP corresponds to a theoretical 4% house edge. A 94% version corresponds to 6%, while a 91% version corresponds to 9%.

Over a tiny number of spins, those differences can be completely hidden by random variation.

Theoretical RTP and Actual RTP Are Not the Same

Theoretical RTP is the percentage built into the mathematical model.

Actual RTP is what has genuinely been returned across a particular recorded sample of wagers.

Suppose a slot is designed for 96% but records 94.8% during one limited measurement period. That does not automatically indicate a problem.

Volatility creates statistical variation.

So seeing short-term results differ from the published figure is completly normal.

Most importantly, check the version actually being offered rather than relying on an old review.

Different variants can make two visually identical slots mathematically non-identical, and that small detail is easy to overlook.
